My Story:

Nine years ago, my mom convinced me to purchase my very first Kitchenaid stand mixer because there was a big sale on it and the beautiful Cherry Red color just drew me in! I wasn’t even sure I would use it because I thought I didn’t like desserts as I always found them to be too sweet but decided to try to bake something I saw on YouTube so I could use my new mixer. I tweaked the recipe to my liking and loved the results so much, I was hooked! I have since taken formal training classes at the San Francisco Baking Institute and completed other online baking programs, and have put in many, many hours of practice, trying out new recipes, adapting them and then perfecting them to my standards.

My friends and family always asked me to make their birthday or special occasions cakes/desserts but I needed to test my products with strangers. Over the past 6 years, I created several neighbor groups, individuals living in Danville and San Ramon, who would come almost weekly to try a piece of one of my desserts (for free) and provide me with feedback. The responses were overwhelmingly positive so I decided to leave my job after 33 years and start a business doing what I love to do.

The “Not So Sweet Nancy” business name came about because those who know me would probably describe me as a very practical, no-nonsense type of person and my desserts are praised for being “delicious” and “not so sweet.” Hence, the name was fitting to my personality and the baked goods I provide. If you live in San Ramon, Danville, or Alamo, CA, I hope you will give my baked goods a try.
